The pattern, a part of the pattern Bows, was designed by Professor Josef Frank (1885–1967), an Austrian-Swedish architect and designer, and one of the leading figures of modernism in Austria. Josef Frank created the Bows pattern during the 1920s–1930s as part of a larger collection of designs that blend geometric shapes with elements from nature.
