"Imprints in Swedish Design"
This summer, Almedahls celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Helsingborg Exhibition H55, a groundbreaking housing fair that marked a turning point for Swedish design. Bold colors and patterned textiles took center stage, and textile design truly broke through, especially through Linnelinjen, a collaboration between NK’s Textile Chamber and Almedahls Weaving Mill. They created linen-based textiles with graphic prints, strong colors, and playfulness, and the series continued to evolve well into the 1970s.
Today, several of the patterns such as “Pinnebär”, “Perssons kryddskåp” and “Sill” remain in production.

the Helsingborg Exhibition H55, which (among other things) signaled the start of “the Swedish textile revolution.” Actors such as NK’s Textile Chamber and Almedahls shed new light on both the home and domestic crafts, introducing groundbreaking patterns, explosive colors, and optimism for the future. Some of these patterns are still being produced today, among them Almedahls’ Persson’s Spice Cabinet, depicting Signe Persson-Melin’s spice jars and designed by Astrid Sampe.
