Care instructions for textiles

Here are some useful tips for caring for your Almedahls textiles to ensure they remain beautiful and durable over time.

We take pride in offering high-quality products with an environmentally conscious focus. Our quality is maintained through carefully selected materials and a production process that minimizes our impact on the environment.

To ensure that our textiles are safe for both you and the environment, they are certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 to avoid harmful substances. The majority of our textile range consists of natural materials, except for calendars made from recycled polyester and some cushion covers sewn from upholstery fabric (see below).  Read more about Almedahls and sustainability here.

We recommend using environmentally friendly detergent and air drying your textiles by hanging them or laying them flat. Tip: Using lower washing temperatures saves both money and the environment.

For LINEN, it is best to wash whites and colors separately. Wash at 40 degrees Celsius, 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and avoid detergents with bleach. Linen can be air dried and then mangled or ironed when damp to achieve a smooth surface. Cold pressing will make the surface shiny.

COTTON is a durable material that can withstand tough washes, but printed cotton requires a little extra care. Again, we recommend washing whites and colors separately at 40 degrees Celsius, 104 degrees Fahrenheit, without bleach. Air dry for best results, and if you want extra smooth textiles, you can iron or mangle them when damp.

WOOL is a fantastic material with natural properties that mean your blanket does not need to be washed often, which is good for both the environment and the climate. For wool products, we recommend airing them regularly and only washing them when necessary. When it's time to wash, do so by hand at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius, 86 degrees Fahrenheit, or in a special wool program in the washing machine. Dry wool hanging or flat and avoid tumble drying altogether.

MIXED MATERIALS. Some of our cushion covers are made from durable upholstery fabric. These can be washed at 40 degrees Celsius, 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and dried in the same way as other textiles, without using a tumble dryer.

OILCLOTHS should be washed at 40 degrees Celsius, 104 degrees Fahrenheit, on a gentle cycle. If ironing is needed, do so at a medium temperature from the back side.

By following these simple tips and showing a little care, your Almedahls textiles will remain beautiful and fresh for a long time!
